This LEED Silver project is part of the MILCON Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing Advanced Individual Training Barracks at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Ramtech was designated as a strategic subcontractor to Hensel Phelps Construction for the 116,480 square foot project, and was responsible for the manufacture, installation, and specific finish-out of the 152 individual modular sections that were used to produce the 272 room four-story building. All of the floor sections were designed and built as six-sided unitized boxes acting as rigid cubes when stacked together with each other. Because the AIT facility houses U.S. combat troops, the structure was built to meet the Army’s rigid Anti-Terrorism Force Protection construction standards and progressive collapse requirements for buildings three stories and above.

US Navy – Childcare Facility

Designed as a Child Development Center accommodating infants to grade school age children, this permanent modular facility replaced several dilapidated buildings and brought the Navy into compliance with federal work rules mandating childcare for civilian base employees.

Located at the China Lake Naval Air Station in China Lake, CA and encompassing over 25,000 square feet, the Center features all-steel construction, an EIFS stucco exterior, non-loaded corridors throughout the building, and a specially designed mist cooling system to handle the extreme heat in the courtyards and play areas.

NOAA – Weather Forecast Office

Located in North Richland Hills (Fort Worth) TX, this 10,800 square foot facility serves as the North Texas regional weather forecasting and broadcasting facility for the National Weather Service (NOAA).

As a complete development project, Ramtech was responsible for the acquisition of the land, space planning, all the architectural, engineer – ing and civil design, and the financing required to provide for a 10-year lease with 10 year renewal options. Using permanent modular construction, the building features wood and steel construction, a reinforced con – crete and steel tornado vault, raised computer flooring cover – ing over 50% of the interior area, perimeter security fencing, and a split-faced block exterior.

Cottonwood Shores – Police Dept Headquarters

Located in Cottonwood Shores, TX, this 2,184 square foot facility serves as the Headquarters, administrative offices, break room, and interrogation room space for the five-officer police department.

The building was developed using pier and beam permanent modular construction with the modular sections installed on a stem wall foundation. A combination of 26 gauge R-panel siding and stone veneer were used on the exterior parapet wall which included a concealed roof line with additional height at the main entry. The interior is finished with vinyl covered gypsum on the walls and vinyl composition tile flooring throughout the facility.

GSA – Childcare Facility

Located on the bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, LA this 8,065 square foot daycare center was developed on a longterm lease to provide full-day childcare for the children of the local Army Corp of Engineers employees. As a design-build permanent modular construction project, extensive civil design and site development were required to bring the land up to a usable status.

The facility features all steel construction, architectural metal siding, an integrated entry canopy, and a full playground. This building was one of the few in the greater New Orleans area to survive Hurricane Katrina intact.
